#ProjectSpotlight: From conservatory to extension

Conservatories are one of those home luxuries that are meant to be celebrated – as a show-stopping garden room, a place to enjoy the sunshine or a lounge with endless garden views. For the Taylor family, their conservatory had become a draughty and unused space. But all of that was about to change with a brand new conservatory roof replacement and a structural reshuffle that effectively converted it into an extension.

In addition to a replica tiled roof, the Taylor’s opted to rearrange the conservatory’s windows and doors so that the French doors opened to the patio and a window panel was fitted directly beneath the roof itself. All this work will ensure their extra living space stays well-insulated and functional, while still meshing perfectly with the rest of the house. In just a month, this conservatory went from unloved to irresistible.

Replica tiled roof before and after

Here’s what the Taylor family had to say about their conservatory transformation experience with Anglian:

“The Anglian installation was such a good experience for us and we felt looked after at all stages. The quote process was straightforward and structured, with the representative turning up on time and explaining in a very open way and no pressure sales techniques at all.

“The design was produced for our review and we had input and approval at many stages, including a tricky box gutter section that needed some CAD work to be 100% [sure that] it would fit.

“The installation team turned up on time and they had such a professional attitude – wanting everything to be “just right”. They tidied up every day and kept us informed on progress. The work was scheduled to take three to four weeks and it was finished as planned, no overrun and all tidy and clear at the end.

“We are very happy with the quality of the windows and doors and level of finish inside and outside. The overall experience was great. With the help of Anglian, an unloved conservatory that was literally on its last legs has been transformed into a bright, appealing room that we all use. It’s well-insulated, feels so solid and integrates well with the rest of the house.

“It has a lovely vaulted ceiling that gives such a feeling of space, fantastic big windows that frame the views and doors that open onto the patio. It’s going to come into its own in the summer when we can have that inside/outside living that we wanted to achieve when we first started to plan the room last year. I’d recommend Anglian to anyone considering a similar build.”

With just a little tweaking and a whole lot of imagination, the Taylor family’s conservatory became the focal point it deserves. To see more stunning pictures and transformations of real Anglian homes, follow us on Instagram @Anglianhome.
