How to incorporate 2018’s top trends into your home

Think you’ve got this year’s top interior trends down? We recently completed a survey that revealed 90% of Londoners claim their homes feature some of 2018’s trendiest interior items. That includes wooden and copper items, wall art and succulent plants, as well as up-and-coming trends like brightly-coloured front doors.

Contemporary and a little industrial, these style elements are great for injecting your space with a little bit of modern. Which will come as no surprise, if London’s at the top of the charts.

2018 home trend capital

If you need a little inspiration on how to incorporate these trends into your home, check out our tips below.

Wood

Wood is very on-trend at the moment – in fact, “wooden features and items” came top of the nation’s list of favourite interior trends. You can incorporate wooden elements on a big scale in your home with wooden flooring, as it’s a great way to tie together rooms in an open-plan space. On a smaller scale, upcycling old furniture to create rustic-looking coffee or lamp tables is both stylish and environmentally friendly.

Wall art

Take inspiration from the bedroom walls of your adolescence by choosing some of your favourite art and posters to frame on your walls. Wall art is a top place to make a statement, so try thinking outside the box. Vinyl album covers, framed typography or a retro band tee can all inject some personality into your living space.

Copper items

Copper was a hot trend throughout 2017 and isn’t going anywhere in 2018. A great way to introduce copper into your home’s interior is to collect some metallic accessories – these days, you can find everything from cutlery to lamps, plant and toothbrush holders in this year’s must-have metal.

Succulent plants

Plants are an amazing way of adding colour, depth and fresh air into your home. With succulent plants, you won’t need to worry too much about watering or pruning, and they still make a gorgeous accessory to trendy aesthetics.

Brightly-coloured front door

According to Brits, an inviting door is the new way to welcome guests into your home. The fifth most favoured interior trend for 2018 is a brightly-coloured front door. Styles like those in our composite door range come in shades of blue, yellow, red and everything in between, and really catch people’s eye.
