There are no two ways about it – conservatories are a major home improvement project. But play your cards right, and your involvement in that project can be minimal for all intents and purposes. It just depends on the company you choose to install your conservatory. And when they went with Anglian, the Mott family got door-to-door service, so to speak.
Their Regency conservatory not only required planning permission but the moving of a drainage system. Luckily Anglian had everything sorted so that the only real decision the Motts needed to make involved their conservatory’s style (they opted for white uPVC and a glass roof, by the way). Everything else? Taken care of. All that was left to do on the Motts’ checklist was enjoy their brand new living space.
Here’s what Mr. and Mrs. Mott had to say about their Regency conservatory:
“We commissioned our conservatory from Anglian last year, 2017, and we are very impressed and happy with the result. The conservatory has transformed the house (an end-terrace with a small garden), providing not just extra room, but a view from the hall through the lounge into an elegant living space.
“The design is “Regency” with balanced proportion of width and length, large windows on a small wall with a useful shelf, as well as a “sun burst” facing out into the garden. From the outside the shape of the structure fits well to the house and garden, with a small surround of paving stones. We ordered glass with maximum heat insulation, but not underfloor heating, so we expected the room to be quite cold, but in fact it is not, and we have found that an electric fire will keep the room comfortably warm (and it is now winter).
“We were also impressed by the quality of the contracts and the work that they did in the construction of the conservatory. It was necessary for them to move the drainage system away from the house, and this involved a considerable amount of digging and concreting, all of which was completed quickly and without fuss.
“All of the contractors were helpful and friendly, and we were pleasantly surprised at how concerned they were to minimise the disruption to ourselves, how they discussed any issues that might impact us, organised their work around our own time commitments, and how they cleaned up after the work every day.
“During the work Anglian organised the obtaining of relevant planning permission (including permission to build in a national park) and the involvement of a third party (AEDIS) for monitoring of the drainage changes, and at the end of the works, we received a certificate confirming that the work met the required permissions and quality. But do not expect to receive this certificate until sometime after the completion of the building works. Indeed, expect that the whole process will take some time, as there are many stages, all of which need to be coordinated amongst themselves and with your own time schedules.
“In summary, we are very proud of our conservatory. We feel that it was a very good decision, and that we would recommend Anglian to others.”
