The Prep
You’ll need to think about how you’re going to gain access to the roof – we do not recommend standing on your conservatory roof! A step ladder may be the better choice, but make sure you have a friend to help steady it should it be on an uneven surface.
Now the tools to use is another thing to have ready. We recommend using soap and water as it isn’t too acidic or alkali and therefore won’t damage the uPVC, the seals or your roof.

Some of the extendable poles allow you to spray water onto the roof as you clean, which are really handy. Alternatively, you can use a hose to give your conservatory roof a good rinse.
Whatever you do, don’t be tempted to use anything abrasive as this will damage the glass or the uPVC. The dirt may seem like it won’t come off unless an abrasive material is used, but we assure you a good scrub with a sponge will do the trick – patience and a bit of elbow grease is essential.
The Cleaning
Once you’ve figured how to gain access to your roof and gathered your materials, it’s time to get scrubbing.
Once positioned on your ladder with someone holding it steady for you apply the soapy water to your conservatory roof. Use your extendable pole and sponge to scrub your conservatory roof to remove the stubborn dirt.
When you’ve removed all of the dirt, give your conservatory roof a rinse with a hose. If you’ve got the squeegee attachment, wipe down the excess water off your conservatory roof for a streak-free finish.
Check from inside your conservatory that all of the dirt and streaks have been removed adequately and repeat the above if necessary.
All of the above advice is great for cleaning your orangery roof too! If you have a traditional lantern style roof, it may be a little trickier to get to, but the cleaning advice still applies and won’t damage the rest of the roof.
