Theatre

There are plenty of shows on over Christmas at theatres across the county. You can go for Jack and the Beanstalk at the Theatre Royal in Norwich city centre, or you could opt for Peter Pan at Sheringhams’ Little Theatre for a more intimate performance with local talent.

Norwich Castle

It’s a landmark of Norwich, standing proudly in the centre of our city for hundreds of years! Now it’s a museum with lots of interesting artifacts, archaeology, natural history and collections of fine art. It’s a treasure cove that’s sure to inspire and intrigue visitors of all ages.

This is a superb place to visit if you have inquisitive children as you can get a guided tour of the dungeons and roof to get a view of the city like no other.

St George’s Distillery – The English Whisky Co.

This is one for the adults! The distillery was built by the Nelstrop family specifically to create a fine English Malt Whisky, using water from the Breckland aquifer and Norfolk barley. A standard tour of the distillery is £10 per person and gets you a couple of tastes of the whisky and a £5 voucher to spend in the store.

You can also do a World Whisky Tour for £30 that gets you a tour of the distillery and an hour of tasting whiskies from around the world.

Norfolk Broads Trip

The Norfolk Broads are one of the finest, most treasured parts of Norfolk, so why not enjoy all they have to offer. From privately hired boat trips to organised events like a trip of the Queen of the Broads, there’s plenty to do on and around the broads.

You can hire canoes, stop off at the numerous pubs and restaurants along the way and enjoy a walk through the nature trails. If you’re looking to get out into the great outdoors, the Norfolk Broads should be top of your list.

Horsey Seals

Talking of nature and the great outdoors, the seals that live naturally at Horsey are worth a visit. We all love a walk over Christmas, so a gentle stroll down the beautiful Horsey beach, viewing seals in their natural habitat is splendid.

There are cafes and restaurants in the vicinity, so if you need a hot chocolate to warm up, there’s plenty of places to stop off.

Blickling Hall

The grounds at Blickling Hall are stunning and make a great place for children to explore. With trails leading around the estate and even a secret garden to find, it’s the perfect place to let the kids run wild and a peaceful walk for adults.

Eating Out

Our final recommendation is sampling culinary wonders of the county because what else do we want to do over Christmas than eat delicious food?

Norfolk has some incredible eateries, so if you’ve not started a New Year’s resolution to diet early, then it’s time to explore the culinary wonders of the county. We recommend finding restaurants that utilise the delicious local produce on offer, cooking it to perfection to titillate your taste buds.

There are so many incredible restaurants to visit in Norfolk like Roger Hickman’s, The Last Wine Bar, Côte Brasserie, Neptunes, Morston Hall and The Pigs all use the freshest local ingredients, cooked with great finesse making these restaurants a real treat to visit.
